I was watching Pleasantville the other day and noticed a few things.
There is a great scene when, William H Macy comes to a bowling alley to see his friends. Firstly there are three 7/10 splits in row. Then after a bit of other dialogue these words are uttered. We're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.
It made me wonder how many other films have included scenes in bowling alleys? |

I've always been a big fan of Uncle Buck. The creepy dude in there with the toothpick always reminds me of The Jesus.

I accept the modest task and add the movie Kingpin to the list. It most certainly includes bowling, and scenes in a bowling alley, yes yes.

Check out Duplicity when you get a chance: Swell bowling alley scene in which Paul Giamatti's character says something wonderfully silly about the shortcomings of the game.

Reaching back here, but in the classic "Double Indemnity", there's a brief scene where Fred MacMurry is confused after meeting the married (and voluptuous) Barbara Stanwyk. He's hooked on her, and she has floated the idea of killing her hubby to be with him.
How does he work things out? By stopping by for a beer at a drive-thru (yes, they show him sipping beer from a window tray) and "bowling a few frames" (which they also show!) |

I can't believe I didn't mention this earlier, tis such an epic scene.
I DRINK YOUR MILKSHAKE! There Will Be Blood. Sure not a typical bowling alley, it's a 2 lane personal alley. But a great scene in a horrible movie. |

jesus...........the only reason they filmed it in a bowling alley of sorts was so he'd have something to beat that poor guy to death with.

100 days in the White House for Obama, 365 on the forum for Nixon Gutter...
Let's celebrate with a clip from an Oscar winner in featuring De Niro and Streep. A lot of pieces are brandished in this flick, but not out on the lanes - lots of triggers, but many more clicks than ka-booms. In our Pennsylvania steel mill bowling scene, one of the gang (a Walteresque truck named Axel) is clearly over the line. Thaaaat's right, dudes! It's The Deer Hunter. |
