lots more similarities! whilst watching black haired women get punched, on tv, old Bad Blake nearly smiles! glad to see that anima figure back where it belongs! he had his rust coloured car re-sprayed too! and seemingly likes to cook in his own kitchen, lots of pots and pans there! just like old Beau in 'lost in America'., maybe the japanese cookbook in the Dudes apartment would shed a little light here? or am I talking shitaki?

And people say these are just coincidences?  I think not.  There are some definitely similarities between Crazy Heart and TBL.  For instance, at one point Jeff Bridges throws up into a garbage can, loses his Walter-esque shades, picks them out, gives an "awww man!" and tries to clean them up.  Oh, and did I mention this happens at a bowling alley where he's dressed not unlike The Stranger?

I miss Ed. One of the reasons I never got into Jake in Progress is because I couldnt see Julie Bowen in a different role. I didnt catch the last few episodes though. Any idea how it ended?

Lars and the real girl - The best American non Coen film I have seen for a while, also features a bowling alley scene and the TV show Dexter. In both cases bowling is seen as a way to "normalize" a person with unusual behavior.

I had never seen Kingpin before but after seeing it mentioned here bought a $6:98 copy from my favorite DVD shop, money well spent.

Bowling is one of the few sports that boasts a very large number of participants.  It's truly something the whole family can enjoy no matter how old you are.

If you're looking for another TV show centered around bowling, you might check out Ed.

I second that emotion! That film is also in my list of all time favourite movies along with TBL.

There Will Be Blood. Sure not a typical bowling alley, it's a 2 lane personal alley. But a great scene in a horrible movie.

The Contender features the Dude bowling in the White House as the president of the US. The Stranger is his advisor.

Supposedly the director has yet to see The Big Lebowski.  He has this lame excuse about not liking to watch films on DVD in his home and he missed it in the theaters back in 1998.  It's not like some Chinaman took his legs in Korea.  I think Scott Cooper needs to go out and achieve anyway.

A Streetcar Named Desire features an early bowling alley scene in which Brando gets in a rhubarb with other bowlers. Nobody pulls out a piece, however.

Use the pause button to see the recently departed Karl Malden...
